Two systems of bands with multiple heads were idenified by Piccardi, 1933 and confirmed and extended by Gatterer, Junkes, et al., 1957, Suarez and Grinfeld, 1970:
System I: 1           R 21659.3 H
Piccardi, 1933; Gatterer, Junkes, et al., 1957; Suarez and Grinfeld, 1970
System II: 2           R 20435.5 H
Piccardi, 1933; Gatterer, Junkes, et al., 1957; Suarez and Grinfeld, 1970
Assignments at longer wavelengths are less certain, and considerable disagreement exists between analyses by Piccardi, 1933 Gatterer, Junkes, et al., 1957 Suarez and Grinfeld, 1970 except in the region 15700 - 16200 cm-1 where three long sequences have been identified:

           R 16170 H
Piccardi, 1933; Gatterer, Junkes, et al., 1957; Suarez and Grinfeld, 1970
           R 16122 H
Piccardi, 1933; Gatterer, Junkes, et al., 1957; Suarez and Grinfeld, 1970

2νH = 20470.5 + 767.0(v'+1/2) - 4.9(v'+1/2)2 - 836.0(v"+1/2) + 2.8(v"+1/2)2
